5 lessons from the movies

There are lessons to be learned from every area of our lives, every second of our days, from what we hear, watch and read.

Keep your heart, eyes and ears open and you shall find them. Here are some of my favourite life lessons from the movies. 1: Don’t worry - The Lion King ‘Hakuna Matata was such a great mantra in The Lion King that they made a song about it – It means ‘no worries' and for those of us who waste far too much time worrying about things we cannot change, it’s a great reminder to just learn to...let it go. “There are three solutions to every problem: accept it, change it, or leave it. If you can’t accept it, change it. If you can’t change it, leave it.” Buddha

2: Empathise - To Kill A Mockingbird ‘You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.’ This incredible lesson that Atticus Finch teaches to his children in To Kill a Mockingbird is certainly one that stays with you. It’s not just about being nice to somebody but rather the idea that you should see life through their eyes and see why perhaps they approach it differently from you. 3: Your visions can become a reality - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Your visions become your reality if you have the courage to pursue them. It’s no good just daydreaming about what could happen. We need to take the first step and actually pursue what we desire.

As the wonderful Wayne Dyer once said "When you see it you will believe it"

Your visions, dreams and desires are with you because it's your role, your purpose to bring them to life. 4: “There is never nothing going on. There are no ordinary moments.” - The Peaceful Warrior Each moment, every breath we take, we live in the past so often that we forget to be where our feet are and live in the now. Mindfulness is about being present. Every moment is a miracle. 5: Commit to the life you want to live and live it. - The Empire Strikes Back “Do or do not… there is no try.” – Yoda We can spend our entire lives debating this and that, frozen in fear, fighting uncertainty. However, in life, nothing is certain. We can either waste precious time in limbo or make a decision, a choice and go for it! Love and Light
